Bangi, 16 May - Sophomore students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSK) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) successfully organized a vibrant market stall event on campus today. This activity was part of the Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship and Innovation course’s practical segment, aimed at enhancing students’ business acumen, marketing skills, and teamwork through real-world experience.
The FSSK campus plaza was neatly arranged with a variety of stalls showcasing diverse products. The aroma of freshly baked bread from one stall attracted many staff and students. The bread stall was run by Sun Geyan, a sophomore majoring in Media Communication. She shared, “This is my first real attempt at running a business. From preparing the bread to pricing and attending to customers, every step was challenging. Seeing people enjoy my bread gave me a great sense of fulfillment and made the entrepreneurial journey truly rewarding.”
Another popular stall sold handmade sachets and crafts, known for their exquisite packaging and unique designs. The sachet stall was managed by Wu Jiaqi, also a sophomore majoring in Media Communication. She said, “This stall taught me how to communicate with customers, understand their preferences, and appreciate the importance of teamwork. Every purchase brings me joy and satisfaction.”
The lively atmosphere at the event saw students not only producing their goods but also promoting and selling them firsthand, gaining hands-on entrepreneurial experience.
Associate Professor Dr.Wan Amizah Wan Mahmud, the lead lecturer for the Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship and Innovation course at FSSK, commented, “Integrating theory with practice is crucial in nurturing students’ innovative abilities. Through events like this market stall, students learn to apply classroom knowledge practically while boosting their confidence and adaptability. This experience lays a solid foundation for their future careers or entrepreneurial ventures.”
The event not only enriched campus life but also provided students a valuable platform to showcase their talents and develop skills. FSSK plans to continue hosting similar practical activities to foster entrepreneurial passion and equip students with both innovative mindsets and real-world experience.
