ASEAN Arts and Crafts Bazaar 2025 Showcases Regional Heritage and Creativity

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 Oct. - The ASEAN Arts and Crafts Bazaar 2025, organized by Perbadanan Kemajuan Kraftangan Malaysia under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, opened its doors at Kompleks Kraf Kuala Lumpur, offering visitors a unique celebration of regional craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
Running from Oct. 10 to 20, the 11-day bazaar operates daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Kompleks Kraf Kuala Lumpur on Jalan Conlay, with free admission for all visitors.
The event features an extensive array of traditional and contemporary craft products from Malaysia and ASEAN member countries, providing a vibrant marketplace for artisans to showcase their work and connect with potential buyers.

Syamsiah Dhohari, director of Kraftangan Malaysia, emphasized the event's role in promoting regional cooperation. "ASEAN Arts and Crafts Bazaar serves as the best platform to appreciate the uniqueness of regional arts, heritage, and culture, while supporting local artisans and strengthening connections
between ASEAN countries through creativity and innovation," said Syamsiah Dhohari during the opening ceremony.
Visitors can enjoy live demonstrations of both traditional and modern craft-making techniques, offering insights into the intricate processes behind various handicrafts. The bazaar also includes cultural performances and interactive craft activities that allow participants to engage hands-on with different art forms.

A special exhibition titled "Jom Masuk Institut Kraf Negara" showcases educational opportunities in the craft industry, highlighting Institut Kraf Negara's role in preserving and advancing traditional craftsmanship.
Local artisan Mohd Sazali bin Mohd Yusop, a metalworker with 15 years' experience, shared his excitement about participating in the bazaar. "This event gives us wonderful exposure. Many international visitors are interested in learning about our traditional techniques and the stories behind our crafts," he said.
The business matching sessions and new product exhibitions provide valuable networking opportunities for craftspeople and entrepreneurs, fostering potential collaborations across the region.
Visitor Belle Sisoski expressed appreciation for the diverse offerings. "I'm amazed by the variety and quality of crafts here. It's wonderful to see how each
ASEAN country has its own unique artistic traditions, yet they all share a common thread of excellence and creativity," said Belle Sisoski.
The guided tours offered throughout the event help visitors understand the cultural significance and historical context of various craft traditions, enriching their appreciation of Southeast Asian heritage.
Kompleks Kraf Kuala Lumpur continues to serve as a hub for promoting Malaysia's rich crafting heritage, and this year's ASEAN Arts and Crafts Bazaar reinforces the nation's commitment to preserving traditional arts while embracing contemporary innovation.
The bazaar remains open until Oct. 20, welcoming all who wish to celebrate the beauty of Malaysian and ASEAN craftsmanship.
