SUNWAY , Dec. 27 – Sunway Square Mall officially opened to the public in the heart of Sunway City, offering a new lifestyle destination that integrates retail, dining, entertainment and learning spaces. The opening attracted large crowds, with visitors drawn to its pet-friendly design and diverse mix of tenants.
Covering 320,000 square feet across four floors, Sunway Square Mall recorded an opening occupancy rate of 95 percent, housing more than 130 retail outlets. Major tenants include Village Grocer and lifestyle brand KKV, alongside specialty spaces such as Tutu Toe Dance Academy and BUMP Bouldering, catering to visitors of different age groups and interests.

One of the mall’s standout features is its pet-friendly concept. A transparent lift connects the mall directly to the Sunway South Quay Lake Park at Basement 5, where a dedicated pet play area known as Square allows visitors to enjoy leisure time with their pets in an open public space.
To celebrate its opening, Sunway Square Mall launched a series of promotional activities, including spend-and-win campaigns, exclusive tenant discounts and complimentary parking offers. Shoppers who met the minimum spending requirement were eligible to win prizes such as an Apple iPad and a Sony PS5, encouraging strong public participation.
Assistant Manager of Sunway Square Mall Tan Min Ting said the development was designed to serve more than just a commercial purpose.
“Sunway Square Mall is not just a shopping mall. Our goal is to create a community hub that connects people,” she said. “We carefully planned a diverse tenant mix and included cultural elements such as reading spaces and art installations, along with pet-friendly facilities, to ensure inclusivity.”
At the Sunset Euphoria Market within the mall, the vendor Hazarra said the location played a key role in her decision to join the market.
“The mall is surrounded by residential areas and is close to Sunway University, so the customer flow is very promising,” she said. “The management also provided strong support for vendors, from booth arrangements to early promotion, and the turnout on the first day exceeded my expectations.”

Hazarra, who sells handmade scented products and accessories, added that the opening helped her connect with new customers. “Many visitors followed my social media accounts, and I plan to introduce limited-edition products during future mall events,” she said.
Looking ahead, Tan revealed that the mall will continue to host themed events and community activities. “We are planning a year-end countdown event at the lakeside park on Dec. 31, 2025, featuring markets, performances and fireworks to welcome 2026,” she said.
As a core component of the Sunway Square Mall development, the mall is expected to complement the Jeffrey Cheah Performing Arts Centre, scheduled to open in 2026. With its official opening, Sunway Square Mall is set to enhance the commercial and cultural landscape of Sunway City and provide a new gathering space for the public.
